A "cool sites" page is not the same as a "links" page -- at least not in our opinion. A links page should by all rights contain links which are related to your website. This can be companion sites with similar content, and those few buttons you are required to put somewhere by search engines for reciprocal link exchange.

A "cool sites" page, on the other hand, is a listing of websites that you just find to be "cool" -- i.e. interesting in some way or another.

Why post a list of unrelated websites which you find interesting?

Because you are a considerate kind of guy or gal.

And, what does consideration have to do with it you ask?

Just this. Anyone who finds your website interesting may be intrigued by other, even unrelated, websites which YOU find interesting. They have shown an affinity for your material maybe they will have an affinity for your other interests.
